One of the many benefits of being a Demonstrator!
Yesterday was our yearly ‘Regionals’ for Melbourne.
There are two main events on every Demonstrator’s calendar! One is Convention which is held next year May 1 & 2 at Canberra, and the other is each to attend their state’s regional!
We pay a registration fee (this year it was $95), and get a free stamp set out of the new Summer mini, and a make and take kit to make things during the day. We also gets all sorts of demonstrations, advice and tips from other successful demonstrators and staff from the ‘home office’. I’m not sure if I am allowed to post pictures of the stuff we made, because it hasn’t been released yet, but I can tell you, we made a 6 x 6″ scrap page, a little card holder with cards inside and matching envelope, a special little bag like this one, and a couple of different cards. Most of the colours were from our ‘in colour’. I really love the blue bayou, soft sky and pure pomegrante. Yesterday we used lots of guava and wild wasabi, with chocolate chip and lots of other stuff!
We were also able to bring a guest (at the same cost). I brought my best friend Tracey, who ended up being our official group photographer! Thanks Tracey!
Pictured above are the “Sovereign Stampers” which is the group I belong to, headed up by Kerri Hunter. From left to right: (back row) Ros, me, Sharon, Kristy, Liz, ((front row) Michelle, Tracey & Kerri.
Pictured below are the “Elite Stampers” which is part of the downline group of Angela Sargeant (of Sydney), most of which belong to Jenni Oliver (presenter yesterday, picture at top of post).
New to stamping? Not sure where to start?
Then try my $200 starter pack! Simply choose the right ‘colour family’ that you like!
Stampin’ Up!’s colours are in colour families. All the colours in each family work with each other (so you don’t have to worry that some colour combinations don’t work).

- dazzlin’ diamonds (glitter)
- A4 cardstock (36 A4 sheets, 3 of each 12 colours – from your choice of colour family)
- white/very vanilla A4 cardstock (40 A4 sheets)
- black inkpad (to ink images that you can then colour with blender pens using the watercolour crayons)
- white/very vanilla envelopes (40)
- dimensionals (pack of foam bits that ‘raise’ images off the page)

What are the markers, what do they do?
Stampin’ Up! has a range of ‘markers’ which are double ended markers which match our cardstock and inkpads. They are SOO versatile! You can write or journal with them, you can colour the outside of an image with them, then use an aqua painter (or blender pen) to ‘drag’ the colour into the picture, you can also colour directly onto the stamp, then ‘huff’ onto the stamp and stamp it. By colouring directly onto the stamp, you can stamp ‘just’ what you want to and leave out bits of the stamp you don’t want to use. This technique is very hard to achieve using an inkpad, but it is really easy using the markers!
- ”ink” up small areas of stamps with them
- colour direct to the stamp using different colours
- colour in images directly with them
- scribble some colour from the pens onto like a dish and pick up the colour using a Water pen or blender pen and colour in.
- use with the spritzer.
- draw borders, or create coloured faux stitching.
- scribble all over a brayer and brayer a unique pattern
- colour your stamp or brayer with the markers, spritz with water (not too much water as it muddies it up) and stamp onto watercolour paper, gives a great watercolour effect!
- ‘Thumping’, start with lightest colour to darkest colour on a stamp image, then stamp to get a marbled type look.
- Edging stamp images (solid ones) with a marker. Ink up the image with you ink then go around the edge with a darker colour.
What is a marker club?
A marker club allows you to buy the whole set of markers, over a period of 4 months.
There are two ways of buying the markers, normally, either by buying them via colour sets ($57.95 per colour set – there are 4 sets), or via buying the full set (48) markers ($233.95) which comes with a horizontal storage ‘go anywhere’ case which keeps both tips inked evenly.
Each marker club will have 4 members, and will run for 4 months. Over the 4 months, each member will receive a complete set of 48 markers with the carry case, by the end of the 4 month period. Each month, each 4 participants will receive 12 markers from a colour family. The ‘hostess’ for each month (which rotates every month) will get the ‘case’, and will also receive $30 in free stampin’ up! products of your choice! You can also choose to gather orders from friends/family or schedule a workshop when it’s your turn as hostess to earn even more free stuff, including a level one hostess only exclusive stamp set and a free current catalogue free of charge (if you don’t already have one). That’s a value of $330 for just $65 a month over 4 months (freebies worth $70+!!)
